EQ Sport has been bringing alternative and fun adventure sport to the Highlands since 2012. Our ethos has always been to make sport fun, inclusive and memorable!

Finella Annand

Finella has worked in sport since she graduated University in 2008. She initially focused on football, and has worked in the United States, Moray and for the Scottish FA in various roles focused on coaching and development. Finella has played football for most of her life, both oversees and as part of the National Team set up.

As well as her coaching qualifications Finella is trained in both physical and mental health first aid. The health and wellbeing of the participants is her main priority.

“I credit sport, and specifically football with changing my life. It provided me a positive focus when I could have easily followed a different path. I want to provide those opportunities for all and help others benefit from the power of sport!”

Joy Chen

Joy Chen grew up in Copenhagen where team sport was the cornerstone of every community. She excelled in hockey and football and played as part of a club structure until she moved to Scotland in 2009. As well as her coaching badges Joy is also qualified in childhood studies and child psychology.

She is currently working towards becoming a professional counsellor.

“I think sport can have a massively positive impact on both children and young people’s mental health! It is a great teacher and as well as the obvious physical benefits there are a whole host of personal development benefits. We want to help as many people grow their confidence and resilience through fun, developmental sports activities.”

EQ SPORT CIC recently converted to a social enterprise so we can further use the power of sport to help children and young people across the Highlands. We truly believe in the transformative power of sport and its ability to change lives and prepare children and young people for a brighter future!
